Clio Mk3 Key Fob

Hi,

My daughter has a 57 plate Clio with a 3 button RF key fob. One of the micr oswitches came off the circuit board, but she could still operate the other two. I replaced the microswitch, but now the key fob does not operate at a ll. I'm guessing that the fob may need resynching, but I have no idea what the procedure is. Searching cam up with a few options, but only for a Mk2 C lio.

Any ideas?

Cheers, Mark

Thanks Chris, this is my concern to be honest. The sad thing is that it's the same key and fob and was removed from it's battery for only 5 minutes whilst I soldered on the new microswitch :(

I've changed micro switches before with no problems. Take the switch back off and see what happens.

Can't see how fixing a micro switch should have "de-syched" the fob.

I presume that the passive side of things is still okay? Can you start the engine? If it's just door unlocking I'd be looking for a poor connection somewhere.

Thanks Graham, I'll do that and see.

Many thanks, Mark

Thanks Tim,

I was wondering if the fob being disconnected from the battery for an extended period may have de-synched it.

The car does start at least, but being a version with no driver's key lock, she has to play as gymnast to get out and lock the car securely.

I'll remove the microswitch in case I have shorted across it maybe - not sure how I would have, but SUI (soldering under the influence) may not have been my smartest move :)

Still no joy I'm afraid. I have another key fob from another Clio mk3, is it a matter of just replacing the chips or does something else operate the immobilizer?

usually key fob transponders are passive devices like a short coil of wire
