Cold vs Warm Weather

I've noticed, it might just be me, but I swear my P10 Auto Primera runs a lot happier during the weather. The car feels like it has more oomph, is more responsive, smoother and sweeter sounding.

Better than warm weather it seems.

Any thoughts as to whether this could be real and if so, what causes it?

yes it is real, it is because cold air is more dense and hence contains more oxygen, there is another tiny factor of heat exchange

Yes, I noticed the same thing when driving up on the moors yesterday. Last time I was up there it was a pretty hot day and the car (just a 1.4 Fiesta) was feeling a little weak, just the opposite yesterday tho.

The simple reason is that cold air is denser than hot air thus more oxygen gets into the engine and gives you a bigger bang and more power. You hear them talking about this a lot in Formula 1, it affects the cars much more there, during the old days of hour long qualifying sessions you'd often have teams waiting for cloud cover to do their timed lap because it gave the engine that little bit more go. Also in winter testing a usual trick is to wait until 5pm until it's cooled off and then do a fast lap then.

I believed that fuel engines were more economic when warm - Is this just the 5 minutes (say) that the mixture is enriched / Choke out (for us older/mature folk:-) and when the engine itself is warm It likes it cold (If you see what I mean)
