Corsa rear axle

F*ck worrying about the next MOT, you need to find out what is wrong NOW. Tyres wearing like yours are on the rear are never a good sign. Could be hiding something more serious.

I was relying on the theory that nothing goes without a warning ie- a few bangs first!!. Earlier on this year I had a wheel bearing melt and the rear wheel nearly came off. It could've been then that the damage was done but you wouldn't expect both rear tyres to show the same wear pattern.

It's probably just an alignment issue. Although if its rear wheel drive thats not the case you have more serious issues to adress.

Get an MOT or alignment check done if you don't think you can diagnose the problem yourself. They've got a good chance of pointing out exactly where the problem lies if you talk to them about it first, that's how I sorted my soppy steering (worn inner trackrod ends on a Laguna, not outer as I thought).

I suspect that if you've had a wheel bearing 'melt' then the stub axle might have take damage as well, was that checked or replaced when the bearing died? Get the car up on axle stands and have a good look for anything loose or a disintegrating rubber suspension bush/subframe mount point in the rear end.
