Dealing with stone chips

I have tried touching up stone chips on my two year old car using the manufacturers combi grey metallic + laquer stick but without much success. Don't know why as the colour shouldn't have faded much ? I know metallic paint is hard to match but ant tips on matching the obvious touch up *blob* ?

Thanks for any help

I've tried the manufacturers stick you're talking about and it seems to be pretty good. The brush is pretty big though, so I got a smaller brush from an art shop. With the small brush you just dip the brush in the paint and then use the tip to put it on the car. It gives you a really small blob, if you do this repeatedly the blob will eventually cover the whole chip. If it's a bit too light then a bit more seems to darken it slightly.

I've done about 3 or 4 of my chips with the paint, but haven't used the laquer yet. I've got a few hundred in total and it takes a lot of patience to do them. When I've got a lot of spare time I may do a few more. The colour match is brilliant though, I can't tell the difference and it's very hard to find the ones that I touched up.

Peter is right - the secret is use as little as possible - too much paint makes the repair look naff.
