But I can still moan...innit?
But I can still moan...innit?
Nah, no offence, but the very best thing we could do for human society is to reduce the birth rate.
Not wanting to sound harsh, and I accept that there are different forms of disability, but if the disability isn't a physical one that affects them walking to the car, then why do they deserve a parking space that saves them walking to the other side of the car park - surely these spaces would be much better saved for the physically disabled.
Peter
I was given the choice of being classified disabled I didn't take it I could still take it up know but it's not worth the hassle think of Jim carey in me myself and Irene :)
Can I bring you up to date
ROFL - thanks, that's excellent.
Well, the best thing you could do, for a start...
Are you stupid enough to believe that a doctor is going to claim someone is disabled when they are not
You also do not live in area with the highest ratio of disabled That is cornwall where i live.
Unfortunately, it's incredibly easy to con a doctor into signing you off in such a way. Doctors are so scared of action being taken against them if they _don't_ sign people off, that they'll sign off almost anyone these days. Back problems, especially, are the hardest to properly diagnose, and a bit of a banker if you want to be signed off on disability.
I find that hard to believe. You really do have to witness Merthyr Tydfil to believe it. Blue badges and sticks everywhere.
I don't want to have to go into intricate detail, but there are pelnty of people with issues about being out and about, and around other people. They still need to get their shopping done though! And the less time they have negotiating the car parks, the better. Many have the right to a disabled sticker too.
Or are you saying someone who can wheel their chair quite easily all day if asked is more deserving than someone who struggles to breath as soon as they leave their front door? Mental illness might not physically stop people walking a bit further to the car, but it can literally do so!
Although I think on the whole alot of people with badges don't really derserve them, mental or physical problems.. And alot that no doubt do deserve the things don't have them because they don't want to go to the trouble..
I could've gotten a badge when my gran was ill many years ago, as I very occaissonally was asked to drive her somewhere (not often because she had trouble getting in and out of a Mini!). But unlike alot of people, I chose not to abuse the system in that way..
As you say a letter from the doctor stating that you have some form of disability.
Doctors do not generally give out letters stating disability unless the patient in question actually has a disability.
Councils do not issue badges to people without the doctors letter stating as such.
I personally am not a cripple and claim no disability entitlements whatsoever However i defend to the death a disabled persons rights.
Whilst were on the subject. Could those of you who are incapable of parking within the correct distance of the curb please stop parking on the path.
Blind people use the curb as a reference. Disabled people need to get their wheelchairs by. Mums with toddlers and prams need the path.
Be a help not a hindrance.
Park on the road not on the path.
I think that the goverment should issue the blind with barbed wire encrusted white sticks. Then The Path Parkers would have some real dents to complain about.
What a load of old bollocks.
My mate told me of an incident at his place of work. Now, all the workers are "professional" drivers, but one of them reversed into the bosses' new seven series. Ouchy ouchy!!
And then he buggered off.
Next day, all drivers were questioned ... until the correct one was asked ... he fidgeted around a bit and admitted it.
The evidence was a bit of his escort rear light on the floor in front of the plastic bumpered bmw.
From lookin at me, you couldn't tell i was worthy of having my badge, but look at me after a 100m walk :)
I'd better pop up to the local underfunded MHT and let them know the little money they get is un needed anyway then, had I?
Are you refuting the fact there are people with severe anxiety/ agraphobia/ socialphobia issues in the world, or the fact even they need to do their shopping once in a while?
Perhaps they have severe short term memory loss and won't be able to find their car unless it's right next to the shop door?
Last month, my mate advertised his car for sale in the local rag that's published on Thursdays. Wednesday night, he and his missus went down to the local ASDA...yep, you've guessed, someone reversed into the back door and then done a runner.
Sods law, I suppose!
Regards tox
apologising.
The common factor in all these cases seems to be Asda. Obviously a risky place to shop.
If I had my way, I'd make all the kids who lived within a two mile radius of school, walk. Kids who live further than two miles from school, should be bussed to within two miles of school chucked off and then told to walk.
Firstly, this would help elevate the obesity epidemic amongst kids, which is plaguing this country.
Secondly, it would keep them of their Play Stations and X boxes, for a couple of hours a day.
Thirdly, it would banish the school run, which makes the workers who are paying for the kids education in the first place, late for work every bleedin' day . tox
That's hardly fair. Children living within two miles ought to be bused
*out* to two miles and then made to walk back. That way everybody's unhappy. ;-)Tim
