Euro Car Parts - result! ;-)

Daughters little 01 Corsa C 1.2 is still plodding on and now with

205,000 miles on the clock (she only wanted to get it to 200,000) but it sprang a water leak from looked like the bottom of the rad a couple of days ago and she's been nursing it about since.

Ordered a new rad from Euro Car Parts yesterday evening, got the 40 odd % discount, daughter dropped her car off this morning, had a courtesy call from ECP checking I would be in, it was delivered just after lunch and I fitted it this afternoon. ;-)

MOT due in Jan so it only needs to last till then (only running on 3.5 cylinders). ;-)

Cheers, T i m

p.s. Are the bolts that join the fan frame to the rad always rusted solid? ;-(

It was actually a similar issue with the top rad mounts (everything feeling like it was going to shear off (or bolt heads had already been sheared off)) so I took the bottom radiator mounts off the subframe instead.

I also thought of replacing all the hose clips, from those springy ones you have to release with water pump pliers (if you don't have the right tool) but given they were still very springy and had worked for

19 years, I put them back on.

I'm guessing they might also 'self tension' better than the basic Jubilee clips and because they overlap at the joint, might provide a more 'all round' / linear 'grip' (than the basic ones) as well.

Don't fix what's not broken. ;-)
