Fiat Uno Diesel cold start problem

Dec 21, 2004 5 Replies

Hi,

My father in law's Uno is being a pig to start these cold mornngs. Also, when cold the fan belt tends to squeal at low revs. He has replaced....

Battery

Alternator

Fan belt

and havs had a look at the glow plugs which he thinks look fine.

Any other ideas as to what might be causing this behaviour?

Looked at them or tested them?.

It is highly likely that it is glow plugs or the battery is on the way out.

Regards

If it eventually starts with a lot of white smoke, chuffing and clanking, it's most likely the glow plugs. Can last forever but the average is about three years. DaveK.

How has he tested 'em?

Hah! Bloody glowplug rays.

Has now replaced the glowplugs & it's starting better.
