Fiesta engine change...continued...

The injectors definitely go directly into the head and not the manifold.

Hold on!!!!!!!! I've just found out it is a Duratec engine. I spoke to Ford and the say the car was built between Sept 98 and Dec 99 and has a

1.25 Duratec DOHC 75PS engine.

Ford couldn't tell me anything relating to these codes.

So does this help us work out whether this '1998' engine will be the same? Looking at the bottom right picture, the injector rail superficially looks the same.

Its a Zetec SE. They started calling them "Duratecs" but several years later.

Only on a diesel. It isn't a diesel engine is it? Serious question.

That's likely to be one of the more expensive lumps 'cos they weren't as widely used as the Zetec in the Fiesta.

I've heard of short Zetecs going for £800-ish from Ford dealers...

Nope it's not a diesel. The injectors go into to head just above the manifold mounting face. On both engines.

Latest - I've just bought another engine. £135 from a side-crash damaged

1998 with 70k miles, it's a model DHA. I'm not sure what model mine is yet (it's in the garage), but as the car now turns out to be a 1999 model, I'm under the impression mine cant be a DHE onwards. So therefore they must be very compatible?Certainly the injector rail looks the same, the electrical sockets look the same, there's just one extra electrical gizmo on my manifold which at the mo I've no idea what it is, but either it will transfer (there's a blanking plate on the replacement manifold) or the whole manifold will transfer...

No doubt there will be some as yet undiscovered problems, but I could really use some luck now.

No doubt I'll be back...

Thanks for all your help. Steve

Are you sure that's not just the recess for the injector nozzles?
