Fiesta exhaust

Fiesta Encore 1.3, 1998. Back box has gone (literally-the pipe split and eventually it fell off....) Mine is a low mileage car and still has the original one-piece exhaust-no middle box. Fitters are quoting silly money, saying they have to replace the whole system-my question is this, can I just purchase the back box and join it onto the existing pipe?? If yes, how much pipe is at one end of the box, ie, will there be enough to join it to the pipe?? Finally, anyone recommmend a good cheap online supplier of said part?? (Or anyone in the Manchester area know a good supplier??) Cheers n beers Dougie

Go to a ford dealer and buy the back box plus the appropriate clamp. Offer up the box and cut the pipe at a suitable place and fit the new box. The genuine ford part is very good quality compared to the pattern part and usually not incredibly expensive either. IIRC the last one I got for a p reg fiesta was about 50 quid

I always used Altrincham Tyre & Auto on manchester rd broadheath (A56) they have always beaten the prices from certain national suppliers< cough cough >when I have asked and they will give you advice, the trouble with fitting back boxes on one piece systems is getting the right bore size the two/three piece systems have specially shaped joints with so the sections sleeve together giving a good gas seal, its more difficult if you just try to force on a similar looking back box and the "performance" boxes that are about cost about the same as a full system anyway still when I replace the back box on on my escort for a quieter one you could have a Fiesta that sounds like Schumacher on the start line you could look at
