Fixing electric mirror of 2000 vauxhall astra?

Dear board,



At the weekend a car hit my drivers electrin wing mirror, popping off the plastic cowel at the front of the mirror casing,



and displacing the mirror. Luckily the mirror is heated and the mirror was left dangling on it's heater cables.



I cannot seem to work out how to get the mirror bank in place as when I push the mirror back onto it's positional screws



(The bits that go backwards and forwards to postion the mirror) they jsut get pushed back into the mirros casing.



The mirros and the casing look to be in perfect condition.



Any help would be galdly invited.

The positioning screws have a ball on the end which pushes into a corresponding socket on the back of the mirror. Put a little grease on each ball on the motor. Line up the mirror in the housing, and then push the socket over each ball in turn. Use your thumb to push on the mirror glass, as near as possible to the centre of the ball socket. If you push the glass to one side of the socket, the glass is likely to bend and break. As you push the mirror back you may hear a clicking noise from the adjusters, but this is just the adjuster ratchets moving back and is nothing to worry about.
