Focus Mk1 Seatbelt!!!

Sep 10, 2007 8 Replies

My delightful but careless kids have slammed the front passenger door shut with the seatbelt hanging out.

As a result, the little plastic dimple ting that normally prevent the buckle dropping towards the follr shattered.

My Ford dealer tells me these little dimples are not available as spares (!), so I need to bu a complete belt (and go through the hassle of getting it fitted etc.

Any ideas where Ford 'dimples' (else alternatives) can be had in the UK?

TIA

Andy

I doubt you'll get one. They're fitted by the belt manufacturer, not Ford, and I'm sure they'll be punched in by a press. If you went to a scrapyard to get one, I'm equally sure you'd destroy it in removing it. You could sew a suitable sized button to the belt, I don't think the MOT examiner should object as long as there isn't damage to the fabric of the belt.

You can buy them, but I'm damned if i can remember where I got one.

Have you got a pop-rivet gun? ;)

Or worst case, a wooden peg clipped where it used to be?

The only point of them is to make the buckle easier to find by stopping it sliding right to the floor. There is no safety issue with not having one.

Sew a button on (both sides if need be), but don't risk the structural integrity of the fabric.

?. Can you still get wooden ones?. All i ever see is plastic nowadays.

Our local Tesco Extra sell them.

OK - many thanks to all. I'll go and see Mr VW.
