ford fiesta fumes

I have a Ford Fiesta on a UK P reg (1997 model). I was recently running low on engine oil and so decided to fill it up. Nonetheless, like a plonker, I poured 5 litres into the engine (which now seems a bit excessive!) Since then, when I start my car after leaving it for 12 hours or so, lots of grey fumes pour out of my exhaust for about 10 seconds or so and then its fine. If i use my car and then leave it for an hour and then use it again, its fine with no fumes.

Any ideas?

It's overfilled with oil. Get the excess drained off before you cause some more serious damage.

If you can't suss that You're beyond help - take it to a mechanic.

Surely he'd be better taking the mechanic to the car, or having the AA trailer it to the garage...

Either through the dipstick tube with a sucker or get your hands and arms dirty by draining it through the sump plug. Make sure you dispose of the oil poperly by taking it to your local tip where they will have a big green tank to pour it into. Alternatively, do what someone else suggested and take it for an oil change.

You have to drain it - til theres just enough drained off then put the plug back in.
