Ford Fiesta Rear Brakes

I have replaced the brake shoes, drums adjusters, springs etc on m

wifes 1998 Ford Fiesta 1.2. The passenger side is perfect but th driver side handbrake is virtually inoperative. The footbrake is goo but not brilliant on the driver side too. I assumed that the adjuste would automatically take up on application of the footbrake as i appears to have done on the passenger side. The handbrake cable appear to be OK and sliding freely in the sheath. If anyone has any ideas abou the probable cause of this I would be very grateful

Usually it's the pivot arm that the cable attaches to at the drum end that seizes up.

Thanks Conor. Sorted the problem out. In my rush to get the job done it was pi**ing down rain - I never noticed that the wheel cylinder ha seized in so the shoe had nothing to pivot on. Put new cylinders on i today and brakes are perfect now. Lesson learned - more haste les speed! Thanks for your reply.
