Ford Galaxy brake fluid loss

Jun 22, 2006 2 Replies

Over the past month or so we've been loosing brake fluid on our 9 month old Diesel Galaxy. It was in the garage today to get this looked at and they say they can't find the leak in the brakes. They told my wife to book it in again so they can strip the gearbox.

Presumably there is a connection between the brakes and the gearbox but I've not come across this before. What's the story?

It could be the clutch slave cylinder (inside the bell housing). The clutch hydraulics share the same reservoir as the brake system.

But I would expect clutch problems if it was.

Thanks.

When we went to collect the car just now they told us that they had found the fault after all. Aparently it was a pipe joint somewhere so no need to strip engine/clutch.. I'll keep an eye on the levels just to be sure.
