hi,
my new ford fiesta nearly stalls after travelling at high speed, braking is fine but the minute im in 5th gear and put my foot on the clutch whilst braking the revs dive to around 400rpm and the battery light comes on, as the car is nearly stalling. i've heard of possible idle control valve or MAF problems, but i wouldn't have thought the idle control valve would be the cause due to the fact the car idles perfectly fine.
the only other way to make the car nearly stall is to pile the revs on, and then take the foot off the accelerator peddle fully, the revs will then nose-dive and go to 400 to 500rpm before going back to around 900rpm as they should. i'm not sure whether the MAF or idle speed control valve is the cause, and before I spend a day dismantling and cleaning parts, i was wondering if anybody knew off hand what would exact part could be causing this!
thanks in advance
dave
