Almera revs dropping

Hi everyone,

I've got a 1996 Nissan Almera SRi. Everything seems fine with it, except when dropping to idle. Say I'm coming towards red traffic lights, as I dip the clutch the revs drop down to around 400rpm before rising to normal idle and sitting there without any problems. Has anybody got any idea what could be cauing this? I know I could do with a new exhaust, and maybe a new clutch but I can't imagine either of these things causing this problem...or am I wrong??

Any advice is appreciated! :o)

Thanks

Ben

On older vauxhalls a very similar problem was caused by a 'sticky' idle control valve, usually fixable by cleaning with a can of carb cleaner, i'm guessing it may be a similar problem?
