got the starcraft home...on the back of a recovery truck!

Went from Sheffield to Bolton..collected it..

In Glossop, i always take the snake pass, but this time thought i would take the woodhead pass, and lucky i did...broke down in a place where i could just get a signal on the mobile.

Lost 1st year, then had trouble engaging other gears...managed to get it off the road on the country lanes...tow truck came a couple of hours later.

If i depress the clutch while engine is off, i can get it into gear, but not select another once the clutch has been up. I can feel resistance but doesnt feel like it seperating properly..

Im gonna pop to the car spares, does it sound like the friction plate?

Only trouble is, with it being a pug lump find out what exact what clutch kit i need as engine and box was fitted a few years ago.

Might just be slightly rusty flywheel or input shaft, split it all apart & look at it before you buy a new one.

It only did 400 miles in the past year...could be significant?

Yup. Cleaning it all up with wet & dry (or a sander) will probably cure it. Given the price of clutches you might want to change it anyway once you've got it to bits but clean up the flywheel anyway.

a collapsing needle roller in the back of the crank can give these symptoms too.

will do.

just tried finding the dip stick, bloody awkward. facing the front, its at the rear right, now the dipstick has many notches, but funny curves...not a mix and max...or even a 50% as i can make out.

Its seems v low, so i need to get some oil, the old guy said he put heavy oil in it...never heard of it, but then never had a diesel before :-)

If it's the ols Pug 2.3 then 15W40D was fine. About £0.50 a litre in 25 litre drums.

Parts department might help if you can go there but you'll be lucky. If you take the old one out then it's probably a Luks or Sachs & you'll be able to get the part no. from the pressure plate.

It'll need some dino/sulphur to lube the pump on one that old.
