What annoyed me was that they didn't do any ISO car stereo wiring adapters (just the bare wires), I had to go to Halfords for that, who charge the earth.

The only one I've seen even remotly justified was a mate whose boy has cerebral palsy and finds walking very tiring. He'll run about as much as he can, then he climbs aboard and carries on playing with his friends from the saddle. Much less stigmatic than a wheelchair.

Not for a motorbike, I don't do those, but my local parts shop is open Sundays. They are more expensive that Halfrauds, but do at least know what I'm talking about.

Had a similar problem myself. The guy on the component counter obviously did not have a clue how to read the value when I queried what he had given to me.
Yes; I want to convert a cable like the one at into the one described at so I just need to move a lead from one pin to another and add a 680R resistor.
Right - Maka-Switch turned up nothing on a search of their site.
I agree they're very useful - but pretty expensive.
The bin has the value on it. I must admit to finding those blue 0.6 watt min resistors hard to read compared to the sort of beige ones.

But in the requirement I need this part, beggars can't be choosers in that I have to knock up a custom box to switch 60 signal lines from two sources to one ceiling mounted projector.

Video switch? We have those to connect VCRs or PCs to our projectors. Commercially available.
30 each? Even a SCART has only 20. 21 if you include the overall screen. But you don't need to switch all of these - the earths can be left paralleled. And the audio and video outputs from the TV etc omitted.
All in one go, I need to switch, SVGA, composite, svideo, stereo and USB. Nice eh?

Maplin shop stock levels are calculated to the following formula, always late Saturday afternoon, so no chance of next day from Rapid/RS/Farnell :
N (number required parts) = N - 1(number Maplin local stock )
FFS even speakers, standard Maplin Shop stock level is One !?

Anyone got half a teaspoonful of kilopoise? My downstair toilet (the sidraT[1]) has a towel holder that swings into the tiling. The bogroll holder's the same. I've stuck a bit of blutak there for now, but a smear of kilopoise would be most satisfying; but the smallest quantity is forty quid. I need about 2ml!
I must have missed the start of this thread. Was someone complaining about Halfords? I got a set of brake pads for my Fiesta Zetec, got home and found that they had given me the wrong ones. Got a new Halfords air filter this weekend. Got it home to find that although it looked the same it was about an inch too long and a quarter of an inch less in width than it needed to be. Halfords are crap!
