Halfords: how crap is that?

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember " dojj" saying something like:

Same on my SOJC - a Carina II diesel. Twice I was given the wrong belts by the local autoparts store - it's only apparent when you've got them off that the few mm difference is there, and there's a very limited amount of adjustment. In desperation I turned to the local Toyota dealer, who I'd assumed would be more expensive. Blokey from parts dept looked at car, looked at engine (the year my car was made was the transition year of engine), was quite impressed at condition of it and produced the correct belts immediately, for less than I'd paid at the motor factors.

That's quite rare in my extensive experience of Toyotas! But I have experienced the same with a Citroen fuel pump - the auto factor part was faulty and the main dealer part proved cheaper.

And talking of stock - why can't any two Halfords superstores carry the same items? My air con packed in whilst away at my parents - never mind thinks I, nip to Halfords for a can of gas charge ( I have a slow leak and it needs gas once or twice a year )

Blank looks from spotty staff. I pointed out that it was stocked by my usual ( smaller ) store, and was on their website - initation of guppies at feeding time

I was told it was only the 'Rippspeed' ones that stocked it. Not that that meant anything to me...
