Halfords prices

Well they're definitely not cheap.

Wow thats very expensive for a bit of rubber, what vehicle is it ?

Bosch blades for the 206 were £24 in Halfords, or £14 in GSF.

Bought a pair of Tesco blades for the wife's Fusion, cost £3 the pair. Can't tell the difference from the Ford originals. They don't lift off at speed and don't judder or howl. I doubt they'll last as long, but if they do a year/10,000 miles I'll be happy.

As for oil,fluids, wipers and filters, I generally use allparts motor factors or Partco. Most of the cars I've had have owners clubs or dedicated parts suppliers (partsforsaabs or mx5parts for example). The last part I bought from 'Frauds was a dizzy cap about 10 years ago and it was s**te.

My last front set (SAAB original, boxed) were +AKM-8 delivered.

main dealers no longer stock the parts for my cars. VW have a 15-year obsolescence policy, and Rover...

Citroen main dealers haven't even *heard* of my cars, never mind stock parts for them.

Most parts are still available for the MK2 Golf, which has been out of production well over 15 years.

'Disowned' is the word you're looking for. HTH.

Parts are over-priced but their tools are excellent for the price. And certainly cheaper than trying to bodge something because you suddenly find you need an obscure socket.

Likewise for my 23 year-old Audi.

I suspect there were higher stock levels. On my camper, you have to go to a VW _van_ dealer. Many parts are still available, but only from existing stock and once they're gone, that's it. For example I recently bought two of the last four inlet manifold gaskets in the country, and I know that most of the engine cooling hoses for the wasserboxer are NLA - which is going to mean some people getting very inventive soon, those hoses are complex! The Golf will be well-supported by aftermarket parts, as is the camper, but there will come a time when you just cannot get some bits.
