Personally I wouldn't take the chance. For one thing, unless it's mechanical damage the radiator's likely to go in several other places shortly.

In the days of brass or copper radiator pipes I once soldered one up after I'd poked it with a screwdriver - but these days they're aluminium alloy.

If its the origonal rad then its at least 24 years old, i think its differant size to my other Celica a couple of years younger.

Rad failures on Celicas after about 10 years, seem fairly common from what I've heard. A 1990 ST165 I once baught. Toyota garage serviced all it's life had had a new rad fitted, and I've heard of a few others that have failed after similar periods. Personally I'd just fit a new or reconned one. There's not much you can do at the side of the road if a rad fails severely. Mike.

At the mo im skint, if i can repair that will last a short while, as i am not going to be too far then thats great.

I cant for the life of me find the grill i took off to repair the front end and imagine a large stone giving it a big whack!

It's worth a phone call to get the price of a second hand radiator from a scrap yard.

If you want to repair a large hole without soldering, stuff the hole with wire wool before using Radweld or a similar product. Don't use more than one bottle as an overdose can cause unwanted blockages.

Heard that milliput works, sets hard as rock. I think i will have a go soldering and trying that, nothing to lose and i cant afford a scrapper at present.
