Internal Fan problem

Meriva Design 2006-

Happened first time in Jan 2009 worked intermittently then stopped altogether. Main dealer had car for a week trying to find fault that meant stripping out dashboard etc. Eventually returned working with the story that the control unit which amongst other things controlled the internal fan and air conditioning had failed and had been replaced.Because of the low mileage of the car and the fact that Vauxhall told the dealer that this part should "never fail" the £670 bill was stood by Vauxhall & the dealer.

In November 2009 it started playing up again and twice it has been booked in for attention but it behaved itself in the workshop!!

The car has now become virtually useless and with the very cold weather rarely works hence no heat and no visibility!! When the fan dosen't work neither do the lights on the air con and recirculation buttons.

I found it hard to believe that £670 was written off the first time around (sounds like incompetence somewhere down the line) and that the part that "never fails" is playing up again.

Anyone any knowledge of this problem and any pointers that may help before I let the dealer loose on it again as I can't really see my wife getting a zero bill again!!

As daft as it may sound get the air conditioning pressure checked, some systems disable the fan as well as the aircon pump when the pressure's dropped too low.

That is because the dealerships have been using every opportunity to get paid for work that is NOT required. They will do anything under warranty and don't have to prove any of it - they just leave the car parked up outside and change the faulty part. It's known as a warranty scam. Similar to how Lookers would sell cars with known faults, then have them repaired under warranty when the customer complained - even if it meant a bit of a lie on the MOT certificate. Vauxhall dealerships are closing down as fast as pubs now. When they say, "we give your car a wash for you" you know it's been sitting outside. I have known customers cars being left at Lookers to be used by staff during the day and evenings.

+ADw-snip s**te+AD4- +AD4- I have known customers

You know nothing, at all, now f*ck off....
