OK. The Renault Espace M Reg, 200K miles went in today for an MOT. It failed on the followingNearside and Offside front suspension joint has excessive movement at a wishbone pin or bushWindscreen washer provides insuficcient washer liquid (I replaced the wiper heads and still its a poor power and is only efficient when the car is in motion)And finally Anti Lock braking system wasning lamp does not illuminate.There are two advisory items.1. There was a seat missing, which there was2. Child seats to n/s and o/s centre.Thats all it says. I didnt understand point two???Also when putting the car into reverse its real hard, you have to fight with it and its almost as if something is spinning around and you have to jam it in despite the noise. This hapened before and a friend adjusted it and the pedal raised. Its hapening again now so I dont know if the clutch is going.With all this considered is it worth having the work done? The car 3 years ago was £1400. I do need the car desperately but dont know if I should get another used car rather that throw good money after bad.How much would this work cost? Whats the worst the ABS could be? The garage quoted £300 for the clutch.I know its hard to answer but I need some help deciding if its worth having the work done. NS and OS suspension, washers clucth abs etcThanks

Well a new cutch cable would be worth trying before a new clutch. Did the ABS light ever illuminate?

Is it worth the repair costs?

Some can be fitted with a lap belt. Some can't.

And the reason why you think MOT standards are relevant to *any* seatbelt restrained child car seat?

If you can't get the seatbelt through the negligible requirements for an MOT then it won't be any use with a child seat.

...so, basically, your argument is 'if a seatbelt fails the MOT then it's not legal as a seatbelt'.

Which, while true, has nothing to do with the legality of using it to fix a child seat - whether lap belt or full lap+diagonal.
