For reasons I won't bother to go into now, I have not been able to run my Ford Transit 2500cc diesel motorhome for many weeks. The battery is fine but is there anything I must do before attempting to start it?
Advice greatly appreciated.

If you mean a few weeks there is nothing to worry about. If you mean longer I would just check all the levels and the tyres. Most cars/vans can easily sit for a month or more with no problems.

Just started up my old Xantia tdi after sitting on my mate's driveway for a year. Needed a new battery. Glowplug lights off and three or four seconds of churning. Started up with a bit of a rattle and cloud of smoke. Perfect. (And it's got over 160,000 miles up). aveK.
