Yep, adaptors to standard DIN size are easily available from Halfrauds, eBay et al.

Not all replacements will work with the Ford steering wheel controls, if that is important to you. For further advice, you could try asking in alt.autos.ford.focus.

Interesting feature - never come across one before that records! Pity it doesn't have skip forwards / backwards on the recorded stream like a PVR. That would be useful to decipher some of the traffic announcements and presenter foul-ups.

If previous experiences have been anything to go by then I suspect that it will be a one off limited number per branch and a wait outside before they open, that is if they haven't all been bought already by the staff.

Philips made a cassette one which would record from radio or mic in the '70s. Had a weird mechanical station selector - you pushed a knob to toggle through the stations. Ok when there was only a few, I suppose.

I often thought this would be a neat feature, however a timer function would be even more useful , although you possibly would not want to leave the car radio on 'standby' like your PVR for obvious reasons..

Pretty well every car radio has an unswitched supply to maintain its station etc memory so it would be easy to incorporate a timing function. Indeed, my Blaupunkt will work with the 'ignition' fed supply off by pressing the on button. For perhaps when passengers are left in the car. But 'times out' after a short period.

On standard fit Ford radios of the last decade or so, pressing the power on button with the ignition key in the 0 position gives you one hour of use.

just to say I bought one today at the edgware branch, which had 16 delivered (3 sold by 8.30am).

not yet installed, but looks good, and I have the instruction manual, so if you have any questions, I'll come back here later today (thursday) to try and answer them.

Chose this as my Fiat has steering mounted controls and didnt want to lose this facility. This player comes with a remote control, so, while the steering wheel controls won't work, I can still adjust stuff without looking at the radio, which is acceptable for the money (a steering wheel adaptor for my 98 Fiat Punto looked to cost 40 squid at least - more than this radio!)
