Hi all,
My dad phoned me earlier to tell me his P-plate Audi A4 1.8 with 114k on it has 'foam' in the oil filler cap. He suspects it might be the head gasket but doesn't know if it's going to be worth the effort to get it fixed or just chuck it. I've been reading some previous 'mayo' posts and am going to tell him to give it a good long run (but be careful to watch the temperature) and if that doesn't cure it/help it significantly then it probably is the gasket, at least.
So, is there any 'better' advice? And how much would it likely cost him to get it fixed if it's the gasket or head itself?
TIA
Chandy
