Mk1 Mondeo - emptying fuel tank

Bought myself an old tatty shell X reg 2.0 Mondeo for £100 with a known good Zetec engine so I've got a spare engine to rebuild into something a bit more ripsnorty for my Focus without having to take that off the road first. According to the gauge it's got nearly half a tank of juice in it. What's the easiest way to get that out and into the Focus or the lawnmower without dismantling any more than necessary? Don't much fancy sucking on the end of a length of hosepipe if I can persuade its own fuel pump to do the job.

Once I've got the fuel, engine and box out I can weigh the thing in for scrap for more than I paid for it.

Nope. I have to keep it mobile until the engine comes out so I want to leave a couple of litres of petrol in it.

Or, for a slightly more controlled method...

I'm presuming it's the usual modern setup of pump in one unit with the sender, in the top of the tank, accessible under the back seat?

Just shove the feed pipe from the engine bay into a jerrycan, and put

+12v to the pump. It's all the relay does - but without the "ooh, the engine's not running, so I won't pump" safeguard. The pump's running full- chat all the time the engine's running, so it won't overheat or anything silly.

Put the holes an inch or two up from the bottom ;-)

Depending on pump and volume of 1/2 tank it will take about 10-15min. Pumps are typically capable of between 2 and 3 L / min.
