mk4 golf wiper blades

Hey all :)My wipers are next to rubbish and in need of replacement. I bought some bosch ones last year and they barely lasted 9 months, although there has been much rain and I'm one of the freaks who screewashes all the time ;-pThey was a bit expensive at around £20 I think. I was thinking of I could just buy some of the wiper rubber from somewhere? and thread it on somehow ? as they're is nothing wrong with the metal back just worn rubber. (call it my bit for the environment lol).Anyone ever done anything like this or am I being beyond cheap.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for taking the time to shae that with me. Its been very helpful I think I might try out a BMW and do some more reserach into a particular model whilst I earn a fe wmore years no claims to help make it more affordable.

I'd love something a bit more powerful than the mk4 golf 1.6 which is to be fair a nice enough car but not that fast at accelertating. Its been my first car so my next one will something less heavy and something with a small common problem list lol :)

On some VWs, that is programmable with VAG-COM, as is the behaviour where it waits 5 sec and wipes again. Not sure about Golf IV, but many later ones are settable in the Central Convenience module.
