Mondeo exhausts - what fits what?

If I read this correctly...

For the Mk1 cars, the 1.6 and 1.8 shared the same exhaust, and had a single rear silencer and tailpipe on the left.

The Mk1 2.0 and V6 have a dual silencer (one each side) and a right hand tailpipe.

All the Mk2's have a single rear silencer and left hand tailpipe.

The Mk3 is a different car, so dont think any of it will be relevant to a previous car.

Thanks Tim, that's interesting - my 2.0 definitely has the dual silencer and right hand tailpipe. I thought I'd seen the same part number given for the 1.8 as well, but I've been knwon to be wrong before... don't tell anyone though!

OK... but I suppose the critical point is whether a Mark 2 exhaust will fit a Mark 1. And will the V6 exhaust fit the 2.0?

I suppose it all comes down to the position and shape of the flange that bolts onto the back of the cat, assuming the floorpans and mountings are all compatible.

Any ideas on that?

The part number changed between the mark 1 and Mark 2 - which is sensible given that the Mark 2 has a left side tailpipe and the mark 1 a right hand. *But*, and this is the critical but, the exhausts are interchangeable - it's a design change, not a fitting change.

I want to know which other exhausts will fit my Mark 1 2.0, or more precisely will a 2.5 V6 exhaust fit it? Will one from a Mark II 1.8 fit it? That sort of thing.

And yes it is because I'm being pikey and trying to get a cheapie stainless exhaust off Fleabay. Or whatever other route comes my way...!
