That'll only apply to crash repairs, not servicing and mechanical repairs.
Ah, sorry, must have skipped a track there.
FWIW, Sainsbury's (E-Sure) do free courtesy car (or in my case, being given a Ka, a discourtesy car!). You just have to tell them the reg, and they'll post you the relevant cover note free of charge.
Pete.
Yes, they can do. However, I have phoned them and occasionally got a Delhi call-centre handling it, and been on the phone for bloody ages trying to get it sorted.
They also argued that a Civic Inspire 1.6ltr VTEC was a lower insurance group than a Civic 1.4E. They absolutely refused to believe that the
1.4E was a lower specced car. Whenever I've ever had a discrepancy with models with other companies, they normally manually enter the details and go and check with a manager. They also do charge you if the car you are borrowing is a higher group than your own (hence the above databse issue).
The only relevant item I can see on my policy is something about "if you replace your car or get an additional car you must tell the Administrator immediately because the only car covered by this policy is the one you told us about and we accepted and shown in your current schedule" (Masterquote)
Surely that just means that the car named on the policy isn't covered while it's in a garage being repaired? In other words, that the garage's trade policy takes over?
However, the question of what entails a change of car or "replacement vehicle" is more pertinent. If you borrow a car from a friend while your own is being repaired, is that any less of a replacement vehicle than a courtesy car?
I've been exceptionally lucky then - I've always got their Scottish call center. OTOH, they always answer "Sainsbury's Insurance". I don't know if they share a call centre or not. It could be that it's only under-written, and not re-sold by e-sure.
I'm lucky in that the place I used only uses Kas (with a single Focus), so the chances of me getting a higher specced car are very small :-)
Pete.
The three cars I've had in the last 10 years have been sorted on the phone to DL in under 10min. Zero charge but I do drive grp17 car and the loan cars are crap like 200 series Rover, Postman Pat Vauxhall Aguila and Daywoo Matiz (absolute worst of the lot).
That is often the case. Even then, they may have seperate call centres.
Indeed. :-)
Yes, all that too. However, as well as what is outlined in the policy, there are legal minimum standards, and also implied terms as well.
Yes.
Yes, it's nothing to do with the motor trade. However, it'd only be covered third party only.
