Ok, so I've been a bit daft, and let my MOT expire - it was due in February this year, though I had it in my head that it was due in June
- don't ask me why. Thing is, my road tax needs renewed before the end of the month. So, aside from the fact I'm going to need to get my finger out and get things moving, will any of this come out in the MOT/renewing the tax? I'm just a little concerned I could be fined along the way, or summat...

just book it in with the gararge doing the mot and drive there on the day of the mot,, ask the gararge and they will know if it is still legal to drive it there for its new mot.

Keep it off the road until you're ready to go for an MOT, then make sure it's prebooked as the others have said. If you can't get it MOT'd in time to tax it, declare SORN (you can do that online). The only thing you have to worry about, is being caught with it on the road. If you already have been - by a speed camera or whatever, then you'll just have to hope they don't notice the lack of MOT. Keeping a taxed car off the road without an MOT, is no crime. That's what you've been doing since February, isn't it?
You've been lucky. You won't get away with it next year.

No need to SORN it. As long as within 2 or 3 weeks of it running out, it's taxed from the beginning of the month the DVLA are unlikely to take any action. I was nearly 3 weeks late in January, taxing my Celica. Car was in my lockup at the time, and hadn't been used for a few weeks. If they'd intended to have me for it, I'm sure I would have heard by now. Mike.
