Nissan Almera petrol cap.

To open the petrol flap to gain access to the petrol cap, I have a small lever on the floor to the right of the drivers seat. The idea it to flip up the lever to open the metal flap over the cap. Alas at the petrol pumps to day , lifting the small lever , no responce. Apart from forcing the outer flap, any ideas please. (May need to go to a Nissan garage) Peter.

sounds like the cable may be broken or come a drift, pull back the boot liner to gain access to the flap mechanism to see if its popped off.

Is this car new to you? On my almera, lifting the lever opens the boot and pushing it down opens the petrol flap. Ken G.

Thats was the older Nissan scheme (my Bluebird is the same) On the newer Almeras (post 2002) you just lift the lever. The boot is unlocked when the doors are unlocked.

Decided Monday am to call at Dixons where I bought the car. within 5 minutes a mechanic looked at the problem and found the lever on the floor was off centre and had disengaged what ever if was attached to. He fixed it This lever only operates the petrol flat. Thanks for replies. Peter.
