Nissan Micra K11 (S-registration) Battery/lights

Nissan Micra, S-reg, K11 type (the previous model to current range)

Last night my father discovered the headlights wouldn't switch off and, in something of a panic, disconnected the battery.

I would have pulled the fuses, if I could have found them...

What hassles are there likely to be. There's a NATS system, and I have an uncomfortable feeling this will be fully armed when the battery is reconnectd. Maybe immobiliser? And there'll be the radio, not that anyone uses it.

The fault may well be a stuck relay, assuming it's got a headlight one. Temporary fix...unplug it and bang it against a wood table a few times.

Can't answer the NATS questions for sure but on my P reg Primera (NATS 2) I can disconnect the battery without problems with the alarm or radio when reconnecting, at least for an hour anyway.

The alarm didn't do anything objectionable.

The sidelights are stuck on as well, which doesn't quite fit with the idea of a relay problem. Now, whether there is a relay, and where it is, that's a whole new question.
