Yes, do you park anywhere near a mobile phone mast or TV/radio transmitter. I used to visit Television sites and the Land Rovers always cut out and locked the doors within about 30ft of a mast. Putting that to one side it is a fault with your central locking. You probably have water in the control box! Try WD40. It might just be a crappy relay, which might explain the clicking. Try a quick Google as I am sure others have had the same.

Are so yours does that as well, mine has done that for a while and I think it may be the key switch. On this model the central locking is not remote but key operated from the drivers door, there is no locking motor on this door only the other three, and though I have not taken the door panel of and looked at the lock/switch I strongly feel the problem originates from here. Mine has a switch on the central console that also operates the c/locking from inside and I have removed that but it still randomly locks. I will investigate fully later and I will get back to you with the results. Trevor

As a matter of interest, what use is a switch on the central console that operates the central locking but not the driver's door?

It's so you can lock the passenger doors from inside the car, a security thing I suppose, to stop anyone opening the door from outside whilst stopped. ie traffic lights etc Trevor

Well, yes - but surely it would be better to do this from the driver's door button so all doors are locked? (my SD1 had the same system before I scrapped it and fitted an all motorised one)

You can actualy lock all from the drivers door as well so maybe it is put there for the passengers use, don't know, pass. Trevor

I thought it was only BL who were cheapskate enough to use this system. I'll bet your model has proper full central locking when sold in other countries.

My old 85 Ford Orion Ghia had the same setup. The phase 2 version of the P10 Primera had full remote c/locking and that came out in 93. Trevor

what i need is to find a wire that will stop central locking working at all, would there be a fuse that would do it?

Yes.

I have looked at the Haynes manual and it appears that the fuse for the c/locking is situated in the fusible link box, thats the one under the bonnet at the front on the passenger side, and it's the third fuse from the front, it should be a 30 amp one. I will confirm that later today. Trevor

Check the driver's side door panel electric window / door locking switch. From memory the lock/unlock signal goes from here to the rest of the workings.

Well I've had a look and the fusible link box on my Primera and it is totally different from the diagram in Haynes and does not contain the fuse for the c/locking so I had a look at the main fuse panel and that don't show any fuse for it either so I am at a loss to know where it is, you could try pulling fuses to try and find it as on my fuse panel there are fuses for A/C, heated seats, headlight washers, all things my car does not have!. Why didn't you just fit a new one? They're not expensive.
