Anyone have a recommendation for a metal repair paste that is properly petrol resistant? It's to repair a couple of float pin posts in a Mikuni carb. float chamber so it will be immersed in petrol all the time.

Oh, and also... what's the name of that black goo that can be used to repair carb. diaphragms? Brain on strike today, sorry.

JB Weld is the best stuff I've come across yet. It has masses of uses. Even used it to rebuild a worn rear main bearing housing and cap from a tractor engine. Been OK for the last 9 years. It doesn't seem easy to get in a shop but I got some off eBay recently.

Thanks, Rob, that looks perfect. I've ordered some from ebay.

Oh, and the goo is Loctite 480. Brain working better today.

ISTR seeing it in Halfords.

Good stuff that, guaranteed petrol tight in emulsion tubes...
