Recommend me a book

Are you talking about the general running principles of diesel engines, or just stuff you need to know from a driver's perspective?

Ask the folks on here, they're quite a friendly bunch.

As for a book, sorry but I couldn't recommend one, but there might be a general book on diesels in Halfords. Only problem is that diesel technology is moving very quickly, and a lot of it could be quite out of date. Maybe not with your TD Mondeo though :-)

A book I can recommend, although not specifically about diesels is "Fundamentals of motor vehicle technology", by Hillier and Pittuck. I used it when training to be a mechanic in the seventies, and I'm sure it will have been updated accordingly.

But you have access to the internet. Why not check out howstuffworks.com

For maintenance, Haynes do several. There's a model-specific book, a very detailed ("professional") diesel engine book and a quite detailed diesel engine book. If you are bidding on eBay far either of the last two, be sure you know which you are bidding for as there is quite a difference in price. Check the Haynes site for more info on their books.
