Just bought a second hand Skoda Octavia. It has central locking but no remote control. I would like to install one, is it possible? Would it also be possible that the blinkers blink once when closing the doors? I suppose it is not build in (and I would just have to buy the remote)....?
Velleman sells such a kit. Is there a better solution to install this? Search for second hand parts or something like that?
Don't know about the finer details of Octavia central locking but some general stuff may or may not be of use.
I've just installed remote central locking in my Volvo S40 using a kit bought through Ebay for about thirty quid. It took a couple of hours to fit and was straightforward, if a little fiddly. The worst bit was feeding the wires through from under the dash into the door, but even that wasn't a major job. Having a wiring diagram of the car (Haynes BOL) was very helpful.
Depends partly on whether the driver's door has a motor or just a switch - my car didn't have a motor so it was a case of piggybacking the new motor onto the actuator rod from the lock (the kit had all the necessary bits to do that).
It's lovely to have a car with remote central locking again, especially when carting the family around, and I've got three spare motors which are going back on Ebay when I get around to it :o)
motors in all locks, even unlocking boot does the doors. I believe there is a data bus rather than 2 wires, (something to do with deadlocking and motor position sensor)?
combines with window motors,
ie if you hold key in door in the lock position, it closes the windows. likewise, hold in open, all windows open, for the duration of key holding if that made sense :)
What is a toad? Can I somehow check if a receiver has been installed? Where would that receiver be located? On Ebay I have found a key for Skoda, but if the car does not have a receiver, I cannot do anything with it. There is also a central locking kit with remote on ebay, but my car already has central locking...
In my opinion there must exist a receiver module to plug in the car...
