Renault clio windscreen washer problem

Mar 31, 2008 4 Replies

Problem is no water is coming out of the jet. Tried using a needle to clear the jets and no water is coming out. There is some water dripping from underneat but no sure where it was coming from as was getting dark.

Any ideas what the problem might be ?

Thanks

You need to take the pipe off the jet and see if anything comes out of it. It could be that there was a blockage and the pipe got blown off the pump on the washer bottle.

The short version is:

Try a guitar string. Spray compressed air into top of nozel. Disconnect tube from T valve, apply compressed air to the side (ideally from a compressor??), then remove T valve and apply air to underneath the nosel.

If no success, apparently the pump might be knackered.

E&OE. I only bought my first car a few weeks ago, so I am still a noob.

Or there might be one-way valves which have clogged up and become no-way valves, in which case removing them from the car and using de-scaler on them may help.

Also, make sure you have little black cable ties to secure the tubes afterwards.

Handy tip - those little ultrasonic cleaners are ideal for cleaning bits like this.

I had a blocked jet on the Passat a few weeks back - one cycle in the cleaner and it was good as new.
