The central locking motor on the drivers side of my Rover Ascot 115 has bitten the dust. I pulled of the door panel and looked at it and it works only very intermittently. Doesn't seem too hard a job to change it, the question is...
Any idea how much a new motor will be and will only Rover be able to supply it?

The message from "tox" contains these words:
Take the motor apart and fettle it. Far cheaper. It's often the motor brushes that need tweaking - take 'em out, make sure the channels are clear and that the springs are pushing 'em in properly. Clean up any contacts you can find, and you'll get another year or two out of 'em.
