When I turn the engine on I am occasionally getting a clicking noise. This has resulted in the car now not starting. After rocking the car sideways a couple of times the car decided to start. So what is causing this and how is it resolved? Is it something to do with a "little pin" getting stuck in the starter motor?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Probably the starter motor needs a clean out and / or new brushes, and / or a new solenoid or parts thereof.

Usually the solenoid not being able to pull the contactor into the contacts to energise the motor.
It's housed in a small cylinder on top of the starter itself and responds to being walloped with the handle of a screwdriver or similar.
Generally taking them apart and cleaning them /doesn't/ work and you end up replacing 'em.
