Hi Guys
Went to start the 98 Rover 600 this morning and it was turning , just not firing. Didnt have time to look til this evening.
When turning , the engine is cranking but not firing. Checked fuel supply which was good.Tried spare key (immoboliser issue) still wouldnt start. So I just sat there giving it loads of throttle and turning the engine. Eventually it started but sounded like a bag of nails. The dial said it was idleing between 700 and 1800 rpm. Went for a long drive and it seems to have settled down and no longer sounds like a bag of nails.
Any ideas of what happened. My dad reckons he had similar in his Rover 600 a few years back and was something to do with a throttle memory.
Answers on a postcard.
