Rover K Seris Cylinder Heads

Hi Folks,

I have just bent all the valves on my 1999 k seris 1.4 16 valve head, I managed to pick up a secondhand head from the internet but on fitting it I now find that the tensioner is different, the problem is that I now can't tension the belt can anyone tell me what the difference is between k heads and can I get around this problem, the new head takes a M10 tensioner bolt & the old has a M8 bolt the spring configuration is different on each tensioner as well, not sure if it's as simple as I just need another belt slightly shorter or now need to source another head any help is very much appreciated.

Many Thanks...Bones

Two, or possibly three, different types of tensioner were used. Early ones were manually tensioned, later ones were self tensioning with a spring. It seems you need to get a different tensioner. Alan.

You need the correct tensioner and belt kit. Sounds like you got an earlier one a 99 should be an auto tensioner with a spring and indicator. Also ensure that the gasket kit has steel locating dowles not plastic ones.

For what they cost it's a false economy refitting the old belt.
