Does anyone have the torque settings for the head bolts of the following 1.6 GA14DE Nissan engine? and a view of which bolts to tighten first etc... (the order)

Many Thanks Martin

Why do some cars need their valves/tappets adjusting and others not? What moves the valves on an XUD? (doesn't appear to need adjustment, and I don't think it's got hydraulic lifters)

cheers, clive

Think they are hydraulic. afaik there are shims under the cam followers. You feel the need to adjust- it's not like the old days when you just removed the rocker cover and played with a feeler gauge, small spanner and screwdriver. First job- remove the camshaft. Then it gets difficult. DaveK.

Solid bucket tappets with shims. It's a reasonably well oiled design & the valve seats don't tend to recess so you don't need to adjust anything normally

A rule of thumb for the tightening sequence, is to start at the centre and work outwards. E.g. 4 cyl engine. Assuming 10 bolts. No's 1 to 5 one side, and 6 to 10 the other, with No's 1 & 6 at same end.

3,8,7,4,,2,9,1,10,6,5. Vice versa when removing head. Dunno what the torque settings are. Mike.
