Got a little bit of smoke from the top end when I remove the oil filler cap when running at tick-over (cold or hot). If this was the old OHC Pinto I wouldn't be that concerned as know from experience they go on for years like this, but was after a bit of reassurance or otherwise on this CVH bugger as I have no experience of them.
This car only does a 200 mile motorway trip once a fortnight and sits on drive the rest of time, so doesn't get much use, but I'm a bit nervous about the engine giving up on motorway. The smoke from the oil filler may have been like this for many months as not checked it with engine running since Feb. Revs rise as remove cap and settle back again as replaced. Also noticed a very slight tap from top of engine after last trip. Nothing serious but was smooth as silk before. I don't have much knowledge of the top of these engines and no experience running them, so any thoughts appreciated. If its not good news I'll go and find me a Mondeo.
