OK, so looks like Tim was right, a problem with the exhaust...
Was quoted £170 for the parts and labour on a new catalyst. Does this seem reasonable or a con?

I opened the bonnet today after taking it a little (testing) drive and there was a distinct smell of burning rubber and a slight wift of smoke from the exhaust manifold. I assume this is just the rubber gasket "bedding" in?
