I bought a new cambelt for the above car from a local parts place and went to fit with reference to the guide below;
Anyway I replaced the belt and used the old tensioner pulley(it was still in good condition and very smooth). I noticed that the tensioner was fully backed off and not around the middle as it was with the previous belt. Both belts appeared to be equally as tight(could just turn the belt thro 90degrees on the longest run and both visually looked the same length).
When the car was all back together we started it up and it sounded good. Eventually when the car was fully warm and the revs had dropped to around 800rpm there is a whining noise from the cambelt housing. we removed the alternator belt to check it wasnt that and the noise was still there.
we took it all apart again and checked the belt hadnt been rubbing on anything which it hadnt and the tension was still as above. The car drives fine and when the revs are over 1500 it dosent sound very different to before.
has anyone any ideas what could be wrong or suggestions on what to check? I'm a little lost?
Many Thanks
