that flat tyre

Hi all I took off the alloy with the help of a mate and damn blast there was a dent on the inside of the alloy, which is why it was flat and wouldnt blow up...

Late Sat night i hit a pothole, one hell of a hole, i took some pics earlier, the whole section was a nightmare..2 pot holes in a straight line, i took measurements etc along with loads of images, and the damage to the allow, so i can try to get the costs back from Sheffield council.

I need to know if the alloy can have the dent knock out, its not a short sharp dent, as you can see from the pic.

If anyone can help, can i forward you the pics, please also email me direct (its vaild) any help with info and what to do to try to claim the costs back, i also need to check tracking etc at the front as it was the rear alloy.

hope some people can offer help ta

if your wheels are a standard alloy your best gettin a new one because your wheel will be unbalanced even if you knock the dent out, try and claim the money for the alloy and other repairs that need doing

If you've mentioned that to your insurance company it shouldn't be an issue - technically it should be irrelevant as it's a non-insurance related claim between you and the council, but it *could* cause problems if someone realises you haven't mentioned it to your insurers....

i got the covernote emailed while i was still on the fone....some chick in India me thinks

That's bloody good that you can use a short-term cover note to tax it - with the likes of dayinsure.com you can't. I suspect that this may well push prices up a bit for the better cars being sold on ebay.

yeah but best of all i used a crappy old printer to do the cover note, and i went to the dvla office and not a PO.

This is not true, a well straightened alloy will be perfectly balanced (as good as new, give or take) when repaired.

- This guy (admittedly afriend of mine) is sorted many a flatspotted alloy and can do afetch-return service if needed. Seen his work first hand and hisreconned powedercoated wheels are better than original. But as statedbefore - you can only really straighten dents away from the spoked sideand if they are not a kink type. J
