A few weeks ago I wrote about the starting difficulties with my 1999 Toyota Avensis TD estate. The problem turned out to be a badly worn switch assembly (partnumber 84450-02010). The part is the same for petrol cars of similar age. Anyone faced with the same problem might like to know there is an excellent article on how to fix it on the Toyota Owners Club web site.
