Tyre pressure retrofit monitor system

Oct 10, 2013 5 Replies

There was a thread about trailer tyres blowing a little while ago.

While perusing the Maplin catalogue I see that they sell a tyre pressure monitoring kit that checks tyre pressures every four seconds and sounds an alert if any start deflating rapidly or drop below preset levels.

it comes with 4 sensors, but says it can run 8, and so would be ideal for most car/trailer/caravan combos. 100 quid for the base unit with 4 sensors A55JX is the code.

Thank you.

The manual is on-line for anyone who is interested;

These work pretty well for prechecks

what's the range like on the Maplin one?

I was more thinking how well does it pick up the signal trailer tyres?

don't know. since it is designed for 8 tyres logically it must be able to pick up from a trailer. the reviews say it works for twin axle caravan. the unit is down to 75 quid now (if bought on line)!!

2 extra sensors are 35 quid, so you may as well buy two units complete. some reviews are good, others not so.
