Using accessories from cigar lighter; battery drain.

Will regularly using a tyre inflator from the cigar lighter socket have any detrimental effect on the battery?

The tyre inflator compressors I've seen typically take between five and ten amps. Should it be all right using one to top up tyre pressures as needed, without running the risk of a flat battery?

Depends if you ever drive the car between pumping the tyres up. Of if you've got tyres like these and inflate them from flat :

The load from the compressor is probably less than having your headlamps on. So add up the time you've got the compressor on, and see if you'd mind leaving your headlamps on for the same time.

(ie no)

cheers, clive

Thats 5-10 amps for just a few mins. Will be replaced quickly when the car is driven.

Don't leave a cool box plugged in over night. I made that mistake.
